HEALTH OF THE CORMS OF CROCUS SATIVUS L., THE ASSOCIATED CROP OF SAFFRON WITH WOODY TREES AND OTHER ACTIONS TO MITIGATE THE INFLUENCE OF CLIMATE CHANG

Objective of the project (native language):

-Búsqueda de un método efectido de extracción y desinfección compatibles con la agricultura ecológica. Se investigará una nueva técnica que permita erradicar los daños y facilitar el manejo al extraer los cormos, .
-El grupo operativo deberá dar soluciones a las problemáticas actuales que presenta el cultivo del azafrán, optimizando la producción, reduciendo la mano de obra, asi como la complejidad del trabajo, promoviendo la sostenibilidad y desarrollo de nuevas técnicas a escala agricultor
-Obtención de cormos sanos, asi como extender el cultivo, dada la necesidad de disponer de un material de partida con garantía de tener una sanidad adecuada y certificada

Objective of the project (in English):

-Search for an effective method of extraction and disinfection compatible with organic farming. A new technique will be investigated to eradicate the damage and facilitate handling when extracting the corms,

-The operational group must provide solutions to the current problems presented by the cultivation of saffron, optimizing production, reducing labor, as well as the complexity of the work, promoting sustainability and development of new techniques on a farmer scale.

-Obtaining healthy corms, as well as extending the crop, given the need to have a starting material with a guarantee of adequate and certified health

Puesta en marcha de un control fitosanitario de cormos, especialmente los dedicados a agricultura ecologica, asi como mitigar la disminución de rendimiento del cultivo derivado del aborto floral por las elevadas temperaturas cada vez mas frecuentes con tecnicas como el mulching y asociar el cultivo del azafran a especies leñosas, especialemente el almendro

Implementation of a phytosanitary control of corms, especially those dedicated to organic farming, as well as mitigating the decrease in crop yield derived from floral abortion due to increasingly frequent high temperatures with techniques such as mulching and associating the cultivation of saffron with woody species, especially the almond tree
