The Standing Committee on Agricultural Research’s Strategic Working Group on Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation Systems (SCAR AKIS) has been working since 2010. It focuses on improving the functioning of AKIS in the bioeconomy. Their field covers all agri-food and biomass chains, from producer to consumer in a systems approach. Aniko Juhasz, co-chair of the Strategic Working Group: “Interaction is crucial for innovation and for addressing the right challenges, in order to stimulate appropriate research and innovation activities, knowledge generation and knowledge exchange.”

The working group is made up of 29 countries, the European Commission and key advisors, that meet on a regular basis. Upcoming activities will strive to achieve a great impact of the multi-actor approach implementation in EU AKIS and define the role of education, digitisation and e-infrastructures in knowledge exchange, and social innovation and inclusiveness in EU AKIS.
